A longer and more varied trek to the Base Camp, which is in fact the old Mt. Everest expedition route used on many Himalayan expeditions and the first successful ascent, starts from Jiri.

This trek passes through spectacular villages with settlement of varied ethnic groups; Brahman, Chhetri, Magar, Rai, Tamang in the low land and Sherpa in highland of Solukhumbu Everest region. The trail passes past exotic and famous monasteries in Junibeshi (2675 m),  Tengboche and many more. The trek offers gorgeous view of the Mt. Everest 8848m and host of other peaks like;  Cho Oyu 8152m, Lhotse 8516m, Makalu 8463m and Ama Dablam 6456m, Thamserku (6608 m), Kantega (6779 m), Kusum Kangru (6367 m) and Mera Peak (6654 m) and so on.

The route before Lukla now is less frequented and crowded by trekkers. The trekking requires a good walking experience and a good physical health condition as the trail goes many ups and downs.
